What I Love About Blogging
I stumbled upon a blog post expressing some pet peeves about the blogging world. Hey, totally understandable. Doesn't everyone have a pet peeve about something?Apparently, there's a big commotion about the post, some claim it's offensive, others find it humorous (I just like to hear people's opinion. It's all over the place!). I don't really know what to make of it. I just see it as someone expressing them-self, and then others expressing themselves. But as I read comments, I found myself coming across other bloggers posting their responses. I decided to not so much as comment on the particular post but instead to write my own post about why I love the blog world.
1. I love being able to write about what I want to write. I blog for myself, but I appreciate that people actually take the time to read and comment on what interests me.
2. I love gaining a follower. Every time I see another number added to my count, and I get so excited. Sure, it's not much, but it's quality over quantity for me. Those who do follow me take the time to comment on my posts and say such nice things. That's why if you follow me, I'll follow you, no doubt.
3. I like learning from other bloggers. Whether it be a style blog where they post their outfits, or a crafty blog, or a food blog... I just love to read them because they teach me something. I sit there and read them sometimes and think Wow! I would've never thought to do that. or That sounds delicious. Must try that.
4. I love giveaways! A lot. I think it's fun to see how excited everyone gets. I've never won... yet. :)
5. I love the creativity behind blogging. I especially like to see how people decorate their blogs. I like to see their pictures and how they live. I like to see how they find ways to distinguish themselves from others.
I really appreciate the blog-o-sphere. I can write things here that I may not want to say to people in my "real world". I'm excited to see what else I can gain from blogging, especially friendship from people I otherwise would never know. :)

I stumbled upon the same blog post today, and while I didn't agree with her list 100%, it upsets me that she received hateful comments about it. Blogging has become a bit of a popularity contest, and it's easy to forget why we started blogging in the first place. I blog because it's an interactive way of chronicling my life. I write mostly for myself, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't smile every time I gain a new "follower." I guess we just have to keep it at a happy balance and not let ourselves and our blogs become consumed by what other people think.
